The event was the third in a series of activities designed to raise awareness in Cartagena and the Region of Murcia about the challenges and opportunities of the blue economy, while promoting the sustainable and responsible use of marine and coastal resources.

The program brought together representatives from research institutions, industry, the fisheries sector and public organizations to explore how digitalization, artificial intelligence and emerging marine technologies are transforming the blue economy. Following opening remarks from the President of COEC and a representative of INFO, participants attended a keynote presentation by Jesús Enrique Argente García of UMU.

A roundtable discussion featured Elena Chaves, Director of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in Murcia; Bartolomé Navarro Álvarez, President of the Murcia Federation of Fishermen’s Guilds; Aurelio Cegarra, representing Ricardo Fuentes; and Javier García Egea from ALGMASTIA. The discussion was moderated by Teresa García Navarro.

Through their participation, UMU and CTN presented the objectives and latest developments of the 2B-BLUE project, highlighting its contribution to innovation, sustainability and collaboration within the blue economy. The event also provided an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and promote dialogue on the future of marine and coastal industries.
