Partner’s meeting in Montpellier

06/06/2025

Montpellier May 27th-28th, 2025. 2B-BLUE Project Partners Meet in Montpellier to Advance Blue Biotechnologies.

On May 27, 2025, the 2B-BLUE project’s biannual steering meeting took place in Montpellier, in southern France. The event was organized by the French partners Pôle Mer Méditerranée and Ifremer. This was the third in-person meeting for the project, and it was held at the Cité de l’économie et des métiers de demain.

During the meeting, the project partners shared updates on their progress. The 2B-BLUE project aims to strengthen the blue biotechnology sector in the Mediterranean region. To support this goal, most of the project partners have launched calls for expressions of interest. These are designed to engage stakeholders working in innovative fields such as Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA), the blue biotech value chain, and services like bioremediation.

The following day, the partners visited the Ifremer research station in Palavas, located between the sea and a lagoon. This 6,000 m² experimental site focuses on developing sustainable marine fish farming in collaboration with international partners. The station prioritizes fish welfare, consumer safety, environmental protection, and healthy, sustainable marine animal production in diverse environments.

The visit included a guided tour and sparked meaningful discussions about the key challenges and goals of the 2B-BLUE project.
