The research unit will develop and scale up an Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture system in the Mediterranean. The private partner will integrate bivalve, fish and macroalgae aquaculture to reduce nutrient pollution and improve water quality. CNR will assess economic, environmental and social impacts, and translate the outcomes into new business models and policy recommendations, fostering innovation uptake.
Italian National Agency for Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Development (ENEA)
The ENEA pilot consists in restoring Native Oyster Beds (Ostrea edulis) in the Gulf of La Spezia, in particular in Smart Bay S. Teresa area. The technical part of this pilot is funded by an Italian PNRR, whereas 2B-BLUE is supporting the evaluation of the results and fostering the stakeholder engagement, providing feedback through Italian Transformation-Lab, in a coordinated co-design process.
