2B-BLUE Shares Blue Biotechnology Solutions with Türkiye

How can solutions developed in one part of the Mediterranean help tackle environmental challenges in another? This question was at the heart of the Transformative Innovation Policy Lab (TIP Lab) held in İzmir, Türkiye, on 30 September 2026.

Organised by the Dialogue4Innovation (D4I) project and supported by the Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission, the event brought together public authorities, researchers, businesses and civil society to explore ways to manage and reuse marine litter more sustainably.

During an online session, Amelia Cánovas from the University of Murcia presented 2B-BLUE and the results of its Spanish Demonstration Site. She showcased two innovative approaches: using macroalgae to help remove pollution from water and using blockchain technology to support carbon credits for port waters.

The presentation sparked discussion about how these solutions could be adapted to local needs in Türkiye, opening opportunities for knowledge exchange and future cooperation.

By sharing its results with other Mediterranean initiatives, 2B-BLUE is helping connect ideas, people and practical solutions to support a more sustainable and circular blue economy across the region.
