How can innovative blue biotechnology solutions move from successful projects into real-world use? The MedBlueTech Summit 2026, held in Alicante on September 30, provided 2B-BLUE with an opportunity to explore exactly that question.
The Summit brought together more than 200 participants from across the Mediterranean, including companies, research organisations, technology centres and other actors working on blue biotechnology and sustainable solutions. Organised in collaboration with Mediterranean Algae and other key partners from the Spanish Mediterranean, the event marked an important milestone in the 2B-BLUE transfer phase.
2B-BLUE organised a panel and roundtable dedicated to technology transfer and cooperation, with contributions from CTN, HCMR, Odins, Polychaeta and UMU. Discussions focused on how collaboration across sectors and Mediterranean regions can help turn innovation into solutions that can be adapted, adopted and replicated.
The Summit also created opportunities to connect 2B-BLUE solutions with organisations interested in their validation and uptake, while identifying new pathways for cooperation and market development.
These new connections will support the next steps of the 2B-BLUE transfer phase, helping bring project solutions closer to the organisations and territories that can put them into practice across the Mediterranean.
