Finalization of the Pilot Activities in Vlora Bay
During November and December 2025, the Albanian Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (ACEPSD) has successfully concluded its final pilot activities in the Bay of Vlora. This milestone marks an important step in putting the project’s innovative and sustainable aquaculture approach into practice and increasing its visibility. During this phase, the Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (ITMA) units became fully operational. Regular measurements were carried out to collect environmental and performance data under real farming conditions, helping assess how the system works in practice.
To clearly identify the experimental setup, roll-up panels were installed at the site. These panels marked the different production units, including the IMTA systems and control units. This improved both the organization of the pilot area and communication of the methodology to visitors and stakeholders.
In addition, a poster presenting early results and preliminary analyses from the piloting activities was produced and permanently displayed at the farm facilities of Alb-Adriatico 2013 Ltd. This visual material supports knowledge sharing and enhances the visibility of the project outcomes.
Overall, these final pilot activities strengthened cooperation between ACEPSD and the hosting company and demonstrate that sustainable aquaculture solutions can be successfully applied in the environmental and socio-economic context of Vlora Bay.
