2B-BLUE HB Inaugural Event in Thessaloniki, Greece

Society for Macedonian Studies, Thessaloniki, Greece, June 18, 2024 – The 2B-BLUE HB proudly hosted its inaugural event in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, in collaboration with BlueMissionMed CSA under the EU Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters. This landmark event marked a significant stride towards embracing blue bioeconomy and biotechnology innovations to tackle marine pollution, heralding a new era of sustainable aquatic solutions.

The event brought together project partners, hub members, and key stakeholders who showcased Greece’s emerging potential in adopting restorative and regenerative aquaculture approaches. Attendees were introduced to groundbreaking advancements, including the development of biogear prototypes designed for aquaculture applications, tailored autogenous vaccines validated and ISO certified, innovative phage therapy products, and advanced diagnostic services tailored for the aquaculture industry.

Highlighting the occasion, the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) presented the 2B-BLUE’s ambitious objectives and milestones, articulating the visionary roadmap of the 2B-BLUE HUB. This pioneering hub aims to spearhead the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to restore and protect marine ecosystems, ensuring a resilient and sustainable future for our oceans.

  1. Restorative and Regenerative Aquaculture Approaches: 2B-BLUE HUB Experts emphasized the transformative potential of these approaches in revitalizing marine ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting sustainable aquaculture practices.
