2B-BLUE promotes IMTA in Albania at ICOALS5
On November 3rd-5th, the Agricultural University of Tirana (AUT), hosted the 5th International Conference on Life Sciences and Agriculture of Albania 2030 (ICOALS). This international scientific event brought together leading national figures, representatives of states, academics, as well as experts and researchers from around the world. More than 70 guests from over 22 countries took part in the gathering. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Fatbardh Sallaku Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana, and by Prof. Skënder Gjinushi, President of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. In addition, the event counted with participation of distinguished guest, such as H.E. Mr. Karl Bergner, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany; H.E. Ms. Monika Zach, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria; Mr. Andis Salla, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; and H.E. Mr. Edi Rama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania. Throughout the days of the Conference, four key chapters of European integration — agriculture, food safety, fisheries, and environment — were addressed, discussing scientific progress and policy perspectives that shape Albania’s path toward European integration by 2030. 2B-BLUE was represented by Prof. Rigers Bakiu, professor at AUT and member of ACESPD, who presented the poster entitled “Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) System for Sustainable Aquaculture and By-Product Valorization: First Application of this Innovative Blue Biotechnology in Albania”. Participants engaged in fruitful discussion with Prof. Bakiu the development of IMTA in Albania.
