2B-BLUE Measures Its Carbon Footprint for a Greener Future

For the second consecutive year, the 2B-BLUE project is assessing its environmental impact using the ZeroCO2MED tool to calculate its carbon footprint. This process measures the CO₂ emissions generated by the project’s activities, including travel to meetings, office energy consumption, meals, and the production of printed materials and gadgets. By identifying where emissions come from, the team gains valuable insights into how their work affects the environment.

Understanding this footprint allows 2B-BLUE to develop targeted strategies to reduce emissions and operate more sustainably. In addition, the project is exploring the purchase of carbon credits to offset remaining emissions. These credits would support initiatives that protect and restore marine ecosystems, directly reflecting 2B-BLUE’s commitment to sustainable ocean management.

Through these efforts, 2B-BLUE continues to align its actions with the principles of the blue economy, demonstrating that scientific innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
