Brussels, Belgium. June 17-18, 2025. UMU Participated in the S3 Steering Committee and 2025 Conference Boosts Strategic Opportunities for 2B-BLUE
The University of Murcia (UMU) represented 2B-BLUE at the S3 Steering Committee and S3 Conference 2025 in Brussels (June 17–18), opening up exciting new opportunities for collaboration, funding, and alignment with EU policies.
At the Steering Committee meeting, UMU’s team shared the project’s work on blue biotechnology and connected with others working in agri-food, energy, and the Sustainable Blue Economy. Potential partners were identified laying the ground for future action plans. The conference, on the second day, focused on smart specialization policy, new thematic partnerships on health and agri-food, and updates on the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument. This is an EU funding tool that could help 2B-BLUE scale up its solutions and business models. In addition, the event sparked valuable conversations with stakeholders in marine energy, ecosystem restoration, and invasive species management.
All in all, taking part in the S3 was a major step forward for 2B-BLUE’s role in advancing blue innovation across the Mediterranean.
