Durres (Albania), April 9, 2025. 2B-BLUE Takes Part in the BLUE ECOSYSTEM Meeting to Launch the Mediterranean BLUE TASK FORCE
On 9 April 2025, representatives of 2B-BLUE from the Institute of Oceanography at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (IO-HCMR) and Pôle Mer Méditerranée (PMM) took part in a meeting organized by BLUE ECOSYSTEM in Durrës, Albania to launch the Mediterranean BLUE TASK FORCE – a new initiative that aims to promote transformative innovation policies and strengthen synergies among funding instruments to support the transition to a sustainable blue economy.
The BLUE TASK FORCE is envisioned as a strategic tool for promoting collaborations within the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” framework. Its purpose is to boost coordination, align efforts, and channel funding across Mediterranean countries toward a shared vision for innovation and sustainable use of marine resources.
2B-BLUE, as a flagship project in the sustainable use of marine biological resources in Mediterranean countries, emphasized its role in addressing regional challenges and highlighted the importance of joint efforts at national level to better support the implementation of T-Labs and the uptake of bio-based innovations in Mediterranean economies.
By demonstrating Nature-Based Solutions and biotechnologies in real-world environments across the Mediterranean region, 2B-BLUE will provide regionally tailored data and promote best practices to support the adoption of alternative blue economy approaches that are able to balance economic growth with the preservation of marine ecosystem health.
